A Note on This Beer

Today’s BA Belgian-style Tripel showcases the best flavors in blending.

The folks at Taxman Brewing take their bright, lemon-y Golden Ale base and infuse it with the unique flavors of Mezcal from authentic Oaxacan barrels!

Long after the barrels of this boldly flavored spirit are emptied, the remnants of the batch remain soaked into the oak, awaiting something new. Those complex, charred fruit notes and agave sweetness swirl throughout the Belgian base in every drink.

Right up front, a zesty lemon blast hits your palate, followed by a whisper of coriander. The smoked oak notes from the Mezcal barrels come through fully at the finish, completing the layered sip. The flavors linger on the tongue, meaning every taste after your first delves you deeper and deeper into that boozy Oaxacan goodness.

Now is your opportunity to be one of the only folks outside of Indiana to get your hands on this multifaceted brew in a can. I mean, come on — how many folks can say they’ve had a Mezcal Belgian Tripel?

In their VAULT series, Taxman is experimenting with all different kinds of barrels & their Golden Ale base!

This one is absolutely mind blowing! Possibly the best Belgian I've ever had. The mezcal comes through throughout, especially at the end. The balance between vanilla and the smokiness from the mezcal barrels is spot on. If you like mezcal then you need to get your hands on one of these!

Interesting and well made. Consistent orange peel and coriander dominant the flavor profile (beg/mid). The sweetness from the agave and slight smoke from the Mezcal balances out the citrus to conclude with a smooth, warm, slight booze finish.

Barrel aged, strong, boozy, malty, caramel. Reminiscent of tequila (also agave). Bit tingly awesome malt bill of wheat and oats. Good beer.

Pretty much exactly what I want a mezcal barrel aged tripel to taste like.

A unique cross-contaminated mash-up. Lots of caramel smoke and boozy flavors. It’s pretty damn good, but I wouldn’t want a ton of this.

Really unique blend of styles/flavors. Has that Belgian funk on the nose and palate, met with the smoke from the mezcal and a boozy finish, but neither flavor stands out strong. Worth trying, but would love to try this again after some tweaking to balance out the other flavors

Would rate it a zero if possible. We could only have a sip a piece before tossing.

Very malty and boozy Tripel. The barrel character outshines the Belgian yeast. If that sounds good to you then you’ll love this beer.

Smoky mezcal barrel flavor throughout; on the nose, palate and finish. Belgian banana flavor from yeast keeps this on point for a quad. Agave sweetness lingers on finish. Unique and delicious!

not my thing. almost like a seltzer I felt. seems like it absorbed the worst part of the tequila taste in the barrel

I love TaxMan but this was on the weird side to me. as described, mezcal and agave were there as was a woodiness, but the flavor combo was not my fave
