A Note on This Beer

The last time we snatched a stash of Mocha Rhino Suit Imperial Stout from Alesong, you swiped every last bottle with mind-boggling speed.

And now, after over a year of anticipation, you have a shot at their coveted 2020 vintage! It’s just as creamy, roasty, and deliciously complex as the last.

This time, it’s entirely up to you to bring the seasonal Bourbon Barrel-Aged delicacy home for a special dinner with your loved ones. Or, to completely surprise even your most high-brow craft buddy at your next bottle exchange!

To craft it, the brewers delicately aged a blend of opulent Imperial Milk Stouts in Heaven Hill Bourbon barrels. Then, they finished the entire batch on hand-selected, freshly-roasted Nicaraguan coffee and Honduran cacao nibs from their friends at Coffee Plant Roasters and Chocolate Alchemy.

With each decadently thick taste, you’ll experience how the barrel-aging masters at Alesong conjure flavors of sweet bourbon, woody oak, dark cacao, dried figs, lavish coconut, and roasty, dark coffee. Breathe in aromas of vanilla and caramel, and indulge in another silky-smooth sip.

Mocha Rhino Suit won GOLD at Sip Magazine’s 2019 Best of the Northwest Awards!

Looking to REALLY treat yourself? Alesong recommends you pair today’s Mocha Rhino Suit with dark chocolate brownies and bourbon whipped cream. Here’s the recipe, provided by the brewers themselves: https://www.alesongbrewing.com/blog/mocharhinosuit20

I opened soon after it arrived. Nice oaky/booze undertones. It’s a bit sweet with coffee/chocolate. Mixes well with above. I split with a friend. Makes a good substitute for desert or after dinner drink. I would not be able to drink the whole bottle in one sitting, it’s a sipper for sure. I agree it might be nice aged a bit

Pretty good. Choco bomb. Wish I would have let it age longer though. Tequila barrel was better.

Nice cocoa and coffee palate, barrel in the aroma but not so much in taste. Creamy milk medium body. Smooth, not boozy. Nice dessert after fajita dinner.

This one was really good. Can really taste the thickness of the beer and at the very last second you taste the cocoa. Would buy again if I could

The flavor profile on the bottle explains it all! Super good coffee taste with a bit of chocolate and a nice bourbon barrel aged finish!

This beer is unbelievable! I think it's so far one of the best barrel aged I've had.

Initial taste is bourbon aged stout. The coffee and chocolate follow to provide a nice support.

Bourbon comes through slightly over powering the subtle coffee and vanilla. Maybe should have aged it for year.

Lots of coffee and chocolate notes, a little bit of alcohol heat, After warming up some of the bourbon flavor comes through and the heat goes away

This takes a few sips to start to appreciate. First off, there is a bit of a liquory quality than doesn’t suit me (bourbon barrels realized), but after a few sips, that goes away. Good taste. Better than average.

Warm roast coffee without the coffee acidity which is my personal preference. Milk chocolate and warm dark malts. A little on the sweet side. Far from cloying, but leaves a lingering sweetness on the palate that rolls into subsequent sips.

Really solid stout. Nice and smooth, thick but Not too thick, blasts you with the Coca and you get a nice lingering aftertaste of coffee. Great alcohol content, would have Gotten 2 if I had known.
