A Note on This Beer
Moderne Dansk comes to us via the Texans at Jester King, but it traces its roots back to Europe. It’s so full of Bretty funk and fruity flavor, the box of Bing cherries in your fridge will get jealous!
The brewers were inspired by the legendary winemakers at Frederiksdal in Denmark, who create unexpected wines from incredibly acidic and tannic Stevnsbaer cherries. This fruit has double the sugar of a sweet cherry, and a deep, luscious aroma that earns it the nickname, the “grape of the nordic region.”
To make Moderne Dansk, Jester King started with a blend of hops, local grain and pure well water. Then, they fermented it with native yeast and house mixed culture. Finally, they aged it in oak barrels, and re-fermented it with Stevnsbaer cherry juice.
I’d describe the flavor to you, but I think that’s best left to the fans:
- “This is amazing! Strong, juicy cherry. The wine oak barrels make for a great finish.” @Justin G.
- “Wow. Dry fruit explosion. Twisty ride of sophistifunk” @Buzzy T.
- “Sweet. Tart. Perfect. Wish I could've gotten more than 2 bottles.” @Jordan B.
So, unless you want to end up like Jordan B., grab a few bottles now, before this Cherrylicious brew is gone with the wind!
