A Note on This Beer

If you were to stroll through Austin, TX, in search of a crisp, refreshing Farmhouse Ale, the locals would point you to none other than Jester King.

And, for good reason — they were voted the fourth best small brewery in the world by the readers of Craft Beer & Brewing!

But, if you were hankering for a fruity cocktail, you might pass this brewery by — which would be a crying shame. Because, for the craft fan who can equally appreciate a Farmhouse Ale and a scratch-made Strawberry Daiquiri, today’s Mr. Mingo - Strawberry Edition is a delicious blend of both worlds.

To make it, the brewers started with their original Mr. Mingo — a simple, approachable Saison brewed with barley and wheat from Blacklands Malt and raw Texas Hill Country well water. They also dry-hopped it with real hibiscus flowers!

For the Strawberry Edition, the brewers added allspice in the boil and Madagascar vanilla beans in the secondary fermentation. They packed it with a mind-boggling 1,000 lbs of local Texas strawberries per batch, and fermented the berries to dryness with their house mixed culture.

The resulting brew is what @Chris G. calls a “complex floral fruity bomb... slightly tart with a strawberry vanilla finish... very refreshing and crushable.” And @Drew E. raves, “Creamy vanilla up front with tight bubbles of funk on the finish.”

It’s certainly more complex than any Daiquiri we’ve ever tried! And, with its easy-drinking 5.4% ABV, you can sip this strawberry dream until the sun sets low behind the desert canyons . . . or, wherever you happen to be.

Not sure if it's the allspice but finishes a bit too dry for me

Not my favorite sour, but I do really like it. The strawberry, vanilla, hibiscus, and notes of allspice all come together ina beautiful way. Girlfriend says it’s very sour but very good

Pours a nice peachy/pink hue. Quite effervescent but very little head. Aromas of strawberry, hay and funk. Light, highly carbonated mouthfeel. Tastes of unripe fruit, citrus pith and grassy malt. The flavor doesn’t deliver what the aroma was selling. Finishes dry with citrus notes.
