About This Beer

Inspired by the Sumerian Snake-king, this Dark Ale got its namesake from the amount of time Rhinegeist “lays it to slumber.” A 16-month stint in hand-selected barrels means when each new vintage emerges, its bold flavors and full-bodied sip demands the attention of the taproom.

Tasting Notes

Every sip is deep, complex swaths of smooth vanilla, dark bitter chocolate, and roasted coffee with a belly-warming afterburn. It’s like a decadent coffee cake, in liquid form.

Absolutely perfect for a barrel aged beer! I personally feel like it's strongly than 13%. Feels more like an 18-20% beer. incredibly good though. I would definitely purchase this again. 5 stars

this one’s got some strength! you can taste the barrel in each sip. for my tastes, that made it a bit overwhelming. ymmv. it had a very smooth mouthfeel. occasionally the finish gives a hit of heat similar to the feeling of sipping liquor.

Definitely a brandy taste, and that might be hiding the bourbon, because I really had to search for the bourbon. Lots of chocolate, bit of coffee. And a hint, or so, of vanilla. Pretty good stout overall. But wish it wouldn't have been as thin.
