About This Beer
This Russian Imperial Stout might have traveled from the Far East to the Pacific Northwest, but it sure tastes like it had a long layover in Oaxaca.
In fact, judging by the 14 months this brew spent lounging around in 18 year Elijah Craig and Elijah Craig Double Oaked bourbon barrels, it may have swung by Kentucky, too.
But the crew at Washington’s Sig Brewing didn’t have to board a single flight to craft this beauty! After their full-bodied RIS had picked up plenty of bourbon-caramel and gently oaky flavors from the casks, the brewers conditioned it on a generous pile of chili peppers, cacao nibs, whole vanilla beans, and cinnamon sticks.
Tasting Notes
It’s like a spicy Mexican hot chocolate with a shot of bourbon! You’ll find fudgy flavors, a sprinkle of warm cinnamon, and gently building heat from the peppers. The finish will cool you right back down with creamy vanilla like a soft-serve swirl!
