A Note on This Beer
I’m getting burnt out on IPAs. I heard this same comment two days in a row and it’s damn disturbing. Especially when we’re hip deep in football season. So this got me talking to people and after some soulful conversations, I think the real truth is people aren’t getting burnt out on IPAs, they’re getting burnt out on their fridge staples.
I get it. Sometimes the palate needs a reset and the best way to do this is to introduce an outlier. Drop a new favorite into circulation.
So how do you find a new favorite? You go to a craft beer hub and pull out one of their local headliners.
Today’s headliner comes from a brewery that’s no stranger to headlines — especially national ones. USA Today recognized them as the country’s Second Best Brewery and Men’s Journal named their flagship IPA one of the 100 Best Beers in the U.S. And this beer is one of the brewery’s personal favorites!
Oddjob DIPA is a 96 IBU resiny, blood orange flavor slam. This popular brew, formerly known as Experimental DIPA #007, was specifically designed to showcase the collaborative powers of Galaxy, Simcoe, and Mosaic Hops. The citrusy, pine sap results wowed the brewing team and the Cincinnati locals.
Ruby red grapefruit and lots of zest front load the palate. Fruity and herbal notes of passionfruit and berries follow close behind. But the real spotlight is that Rhinegeist figured out a way to squeeze juice out of straight up pine cones - at least that’s what it tastes like. Pure bitter refreshment follows every sip.
If you or your friends are looking for a pick me up from your fridge staples, grab a few of these DIPAs from this national craft darling. From the high IBU count to the substantial citrus flavor, it’s primed and ready to get the drinking job done.
