A Note on This Beer
Libertine elevated today’s Barrel Aged Gose-style Sour beyond anything you can find on dry land.
They took to the seas and infused Pacific Ocean Blue with seawater from the Pacific Ocean to amp up its fruity tartness to levels of *oh my!*
This ain’t your kettle-soured, wham-bam thank you, Gose! The brewery barrel-aged it in French Oak to punctuate its lemony tartness with a sophisticated, woody edge.
They collected wild cultures in their coolship to capture the Californian terroir of the mountains. These wild cultures enhance this typically clean, tart style to new heights of elegantly funked-out Sour complexity.
The end result is a sessionable treat for Sour fans, and an approachable tart sipper for those venturing into the world of Sours.
Drinking Pacific Ocean Blue is like communing with the surf and feeling the breeze caress your face. Bright aromas of lemon zest and ripe peaches leap from your glass, accentuated by a sprinkle of sea salt. White wine minerality, a touch of lemon pepper, and wisps of oak balance on a lean, wheat cracker-like body.
Maybe you can’t get to the ocean right now. But you can let today’s tart, citrusy brew wash over your palate and transport you to the Central California Coast.
