A Note on This Beer
Oh man, one of the things I miss most from my childhood is how uncontrollably giddy I’d get whenever I ate a popsicle.
The great thing about Rahr and Sons’ LA International Beer Fest winner: Paleta de Mango Kölsch “ice pop?” It’s not messy like a melting popsicle — it’s a treat that stays clean and crisp. And it’s super refreshing, with a hint of zesty lime and a dash of spice to keep you on your toes.
The brewers at Rahr don’t just mimic the fruity and thirst-quenching ice pop flavors today's beer was named after. They actually infuse this brew with lime, a small dose of Pequin chiles, and 1,000 lbs-per-batch of whole mango puree. Its sweet tropical notes, easy-going Kölsch body, and a little prick of chili pepper-heat tingle the senses.
Untappd fans are adding to Paleta’s lauded destiny, calling it a perfect lawnmower beer and a brew to bring on your next river float — it’s even winning over skeptics like @Gerg S. who says “Not a fan of fruity beer, but this one is to die for. The spicy undertone at the end kept me coming back.”
You might feel too old for the sticky fingers and blue tongue that come from licking a popsicle. But you can score that same popsicle-like fun with the fruity, zesty, and “so crushable you can down a few cans in one sitting” Paleta.
*This Kölsch is best enjoyed at 40–45°F.
