About This Beer

Last Thanksgiving, I tried to make a pumpkin pie from scratch — crust and all. It was... unfortunate.

I bit off a little more than I could chew. I tried jumping from ‘guy that brings over beer’ to ‘guy that brings over a dessert staple’ overnight.

But this year, I’ve got a secret recipe. The crew at Hardywood Park is gonna help me bridge the gap between bringing the beer and bringing the dessert with Pappy’s Pumpkin Pie!

Tasting Notes

One sip of this brew and you might find yourself reaching for a can of whipped cream! The pumpkin base is brimming with a melange of cinnamon, ginger, allspice, nutmeg, and clove. The supple waves of fall flavor wash over your taste buds like sweet pie filling.

But these GABF medalists like their dessert à la mode, so they smooth it into creamy deliciousness with vanilla beans, coconut, and a kiss of milk sugar.

Now THAT’s a pumpkin pie beer! That name is dead on!!! Straight up tastes like a pumpkin pie dessert. You can taste the spice but it’s subtle. Could be overwhelming if you’re just expecting a “beer” with a splash pumpkin spice. Not this guy. It’s not hoppy but smooth and has a thick taste. I enjoyed it but maybe share the can next time. It’s a lot to have all at once for me.

I had to laugh at the 2 half star reviews before me that obviously have never tried a pumpkin beer. If correct in remembering this is my 179th pumpkin beer in my collection. And while this beer isnt bold on the abv side, it certainly is on the flavor side. I love the additions even though I don't taste the coconut. But the lactose makes it very creamy, like a melted pumpkin shake. Very tasty and well rounded.
