A Note on This Beer
If you could spy on my calendar, you’d see I marked today’s date with little strawberry, raspberry, blueberry, and cherry emojis. It was all in anticipation of the return of one of the highest Tavour member-rated Fruit Sours in our history: the 4.29 Allagash - Pick Your Own.
Berry loving beer geeks around the country crave today’s jammy, triple-berry pie filling with a cherry twist, scoring it a jaw-dropping 4.31 on Untappd.
To achieve the most flavor-packed refreshment-in-a-glass, the GABF medalists at Allagash collect strawberries, blueberries, raspberries, and cherries from family-grown farms in Maine at the peak of sun-soaked ripeness. Then they add them to the oak foudre-aged Sour Red base within a few short hours after picking.
Pour it, and you’ll encounter berries right away — a bright burgundy brew strikes the air with aromas of berries by the bucketful! The deep mixed-berry jam gives way to sparkling notes of vanilla oak. A sour cherry streak runs straight through the heart of this brew.
Pick Your Own has a rich mouthfeel, with a semi-dry complexity akin to sparkling wine. A mild hint of funk recalls the masterful Belgian-bred Sours Allagash so carefully models their beers after.
Today’s beer is like an invitation to a secluded backyard garden patch brimming with the finest jammy tart fruits. Choose who you bring to your garden party bottleshare wisely though. This seasonal sensation won’t last long, so make sure to choose friends that’ll appreciate how exceptional today’s beer truly is.
