A Note on This Beer
I remember when my brother told me his favorite pie was peach. Before I could debate, he hit me with a slice of farm-fresh peach pie, right then and there — I was forever a convert!
Today’s beer takes me right back to that delicious pie persuasion!
The brewers at Barrel Culture packed this “doubled fruited” Pastry Sour with a double dosage of local North Carolina peaches. Then, they conditioned the sweet-tart brew on Madagascar vanilla and graham crackers for bountiful crust and whipped cream flavors.
A pleasant floral funk from mixed fermentation accents all the rich, authentic pie flavor. Barrel aging weaves in hints of woody spice and adds depth to the vanilla and graham cracker.
It’s the exact kind of expert brewing that earned Barrel Culture national recognition as one of BeerAdvocate’s 50 Best New Breweries mere months after they opened — craft fans’ mouths water at the mere mention of BC’s Pie Time Sour series!
I don’t know your pastry preference, but after a taste of Pie Time: Peach, I’ve got a guess what your favorite pie turned Barrel Aged Pastry Sour will be!
