A Note on This Beer
Whenever I crave a pint of Black Raven’s crisp and refreshing Pilsner, I just stroll a few blocks to my neighborhood beer bar, where they usually have it on tap. It’s one of those benefits of living in Seattle that helps make the rain tolerable.
For you, snagging a sip of this deliciously clean and crisp Pils isn’t so easy. Unless you’re heading to the Pacific Northwest, you won’t find a drop except for right here. And our little stash of just 30 cases isn’t going to satisfy everyone.
That’s typical for Black Raven — we only manage to share a handful of beers from this crew each year because thirsty locals gulp down the rest. And with good reason: Black Raven scooped up medals in 3 different categories at last year’s Washington Beer Awards!
Today’s Pilsner is a shining example of why. To make it, the brewers used imported Pilsner malts for a classic European-style body. Then, they let their northwest roots shine through with a bold addition of local hops.
Take a sip, and you’ll find classic floral notes mingling with citrusy and tropical fruit nuances from juicy, Washington-grown hops. Flavors of bread crust and a faint touch of pithiness round things out on the way to a smooth, crushable finish.
If you manage to beat all the other Pilsner fans to a can of this brew, consider yourself lucky. Once our stash is gone, who knows when we’ll get more. And unlike me, you can’t just wander down the street for a pint.
