A Note on This Beer
Nestled in Oregon, a state famous for brewers like de Garde and Ale Apothecary, Alesong Brewing proves there’s something in the air and in the soil. By tapping into Oregon’s celebrated wine complexity, the brewery crafts Wild Ales that are decidedly Northwest. These unique and delicious components come together in their stonefruit and Champagne-crisp Terroir: Pinot Gris.
Imparting the juiciest attributes of Pinot Gris’ peach and Key Lime notes with Brettanomyces’ funky apricot, Terroir is a celebration of beer and wine: two things that make Oregonians proud.
A total of 300 liters of freshly pressed Pinot Gris juice from the neighboring King Estate Winery go into every batch of this Brett Saison base. Then the brewers allow the Brett to ferment with the juice in barrels, giving the tropical fruit character time to evolve in tandem with spicy notes and vanilla from the oak. A touch of honey sweetness and Meyer Lemon tang round up the nearly bone dry finish that keeps your palate ready for the next effervescent sip.
A standing ovation to two of Oregon’s most celebrated ventures, Terroir’s making the Wild Ale community swoon, like one BeerAdvocate member who gave it a 4.24 score and said: “I am incredibly high on Alesong right now, all of their stuff is just so inventive and refined, and this is another winner from them…” With only 250 cases in existence, this winner of Wild Ales is a rare treat.
