About This Beer
As a part of the Barrel Aged Stout Series, Prairie Artisan Ales has a whole family of dark brews to help get you through the colder months. But, with a little help from a rare rum barrel in this Pastry Stout, Pirate Weekend may be the most uniquely delicious! For the pirate in all of us, we raise our glass and give thanks that the rum, this time, is indeed not gone!
Tasting Notes
Aromas of spice are heavy at the start. Right away on the near-still sip, a blast of clove, cinnamon, and nutmeg tingle. Those complex notes swirl in a sea of cacao and marshmallow, with a touch of coconut on the finish. Overall, each quaff is like a chomp from a chocolate drizzled, Caribbean-style rum cake!

Sweet but still so good! The rum is present but not overpowering. Wish I had more!

Although sweet, the rum barrel helps balance things out nicely. Like a boozy Rocky Road sundae.

Fudge, vanilla and coconut. This is a heavy dessert beer that packs a punch. I get this every year when it comes out, easily a top 5 for my tastes.

This beer was very smooth and creamy. Not harsh and the flavor was very pleasant. Definitely a good stout to age and great to enjoy.

smooth, coco nutty, and just slightly boozy. Fantastic!

Yes sir, may I have another? Rum spice & booziness, silky mouthfeel, & a perfect dosage of marshmallow (present, but not dominant). To date, it’s my favorite stout from Prairie - makes me want to swashbuckle.

Tastes like a dessert rum. Highly recommended if you like run and are fine with sweeter drinks.

excellent rum barrel stout. I was worried about the adjuncts but fear not, they do not overpower

very heavy and present rum flavor (which * love!) with hints of choclate. I wish the cocnut and marshmallow were a tad more present to balance thingsbout andbthis would be amazing!
