A Note on This Beer
When Craft Beer and Brewing called Dwinell Country Ales one of the Top 3 Small Breweries in the Country in 2018, I was flabbergasted.
How was it possible that I’d never even heard of these guys?!
They’re here in Washington, my home state, making killer Farmhouse Ales, and I didn’t recognize the name. Not only that, but I hadn’t even heard of their hometown of Goldendale. I had to look it up on Google Maps. The shame!
Turns out, it’s down in the South Central part of the state, near the Columbia River. Right between the hop fields of the Yakima Valley and the sprawling fruit and grain-growing regions of central Oregon. A place where founders Justin and Jocelyn Leigh can find everything they need within a few dozen miles.
For a spectacular introduction to the flavors of the region, get yourself a bottle of today’s hyper-limited Plain Sight Apricot Farmhouse Ale.
Dwinnel’s beers rarely make it out of the brewery, and have never before left the Pacific Northwest, but we managed to snag a few cases of 2019 Plain Sight to share. The only place you can find a taste of this unique brew is right here.
Aromas of tart apricot and a hint of jammy berry come billowing out thanks to a heap of fresh, tree-ripened Robata apricots from Gunkel Orchards, just down the road from the brewery.
Take a sip, and bright acidity from Dwinell’s house mixed culture and local wild yeast dances across the palate, mingling with nuances of Granny Smith apple and mild oaky notes from 8 months of aging in locally-sourced neutral oak barrels.
We have just 20 cases of Plain Sight to go around, so get it while you can. Because once you get a taste, you’ll wonder why you’ve never tried Dwinell before.
