About This Beer
The decorated brewers at AleSmith took their 5x GABF-winning American Barleywine base and let it mature in port wine casks to deepen the complexity of its already layered tones.
Tasting Notes
Each medium-bodied pour is like a taste of expertly-made bread pudding drizzled with a rich toffee sauce. Hazelnutty caramel notes melt into nuances of silky vanilla custard, bread crusts, and booze-plumped raisins. The port’s vinous influence comes through in whispers of juicy Bing cherries and a subtly tannic oaky finish.

great sweetness from port and malt from barleywine.

Smelled of strong alcohol & sour cherry. Bitter and very carbonated. The port comes through, and the viscosity is chewy at the start. Sadly, the port finish smothers the barleywine flavor.

I like ports. I like barleywines. I really like this beer. the warmth and “sour cherry” is divine and
to be expected from a 13.89% port-aged beer. well done Alesmith.
