Each year, twenty bars in the Los Angeles area are specially selected to receive a fresh keg of El Segundo’s Power Plant Triple IPA. This multi-location release is called The Meltdown and when the bar list is released, the crowds go running — tracking down tap after tap of this burly, boozy fruit monster. If they’re really lucky, they score one of the pre-sale tickets to the brewery’s Ground Zero event. In short, the thirst for this beer leaves a big ass footprint. 

Power Plant has drawn comparisons to other CA hop behemoths, including IIIPAs from Knee Deep and Russian River, with its concentrated amounts of hop-supplied fruit flavors. Mango, grapefruit, tangelo and papaya scream out of Mosaic, Citra, Simcoe, and Amarillo Hops. Pine resin and sugared slices of grapefruit flood the backend with a ton of citrus rind surfing a whopping 11.1% ABV. It’s like someone plugged your palate into, well … a power plant.

A bonafide crowd pleaser with 4+ ratings across the board, Power Plant's concentrated SoCal rep is starting to ripple outward — in no small part to the Tavour members who got their hands on it last year and are now demanding its return.

Even if you can’t wrestle your way into the LA release, you can grab your friends and form your own Ground Zero. It’s probably best you drink from home anyway.
