A Note on This Beer
Back in 2010, the folks at Hangar 24 bought their first barrel. It was a bourbon barrel, and they used it to age a Porter to new delicious heights.
Now 10 years later, these GABF Gold Medalists have one of the most established barrel-aging programs in the country! Everyone from the LA Times to Brewbound calls out Hangar 24 for the attention and care they put into their BA beers.
And, it all revolves around Pugachev’s Cobra – an INTENSE Russian Imperial Stout brewed with maple syrup and three kinds of dark malts, then aged for eight months in bourbon barrels.
With its 97/100 score, this dark beauty ranks #25 Russian Imperial Stout in the World on BeerAdvocate. Each vintage has a waiting list on release day!
Many craft fans cellar each vintage for years, and the investment is worth it — the dark chocolate, whiskey, and oak-spice flavors mellow out while molasses and dark fruit undertones become more pronounced.
But, now you can get all of that without the wait. And you get to try not one, but FOUR different vintages of Pugachev’s Cobra!
Whether you drink these brews now or save them for later, one thing’s for certain: grab this limited collection RIGHT NOW, because we don’t know when something like it will come along again!
If you’re quick enough to grab one of the 119 boxes we have, you’ll get:
(Barrel Roll No. 3) Pugachev’s Cobra 2016 – 13.8% ABV – 750ml
BeerAdvocate fan @unlikelyspiderperson cracked open their bottle last year and noted the three-year-old brew’s coffee aromas and “remarkably strong chocolate flavors for a stout not brewed with chocolate… Really nice, big beer that is way too easy to drink.”
With this much time having passed since the beer’s bottling date, it’s definitely smooth sipping. Share this big bottle if you can though, because that 13.8% ABV didn’t get any lower with time!

(Barrel Roll No. 3) Pugachev’s Cobra 2017 – 15% ABV – 750ml
At 15% ABV, the 2017 vintage is the booziest of the bunch. But now that a few years have passed, the heat is softer and gently warming on the palate amid the mocha and dark cherry flavors.
And, as Untappd fan @Steinhoist says, there’s “A bit of smoke I don’t remember being so apparent in previous vintages.”
Smokey bourbon and chocolate? Yes, please!

(Barrel Roll No. 3) Pugachev’s Cobra 2018 – 13% ABV – 500ml
Multiple Untappd fans say they pair this one with birthday cake, and with good reason — the brew has just begun to mellow out, making it the ideal blend of desserty spice and sweetness. Sip alongside some cake, and this complexity becomes even more pronounced.
Of course, it’s still insanely delicious on its own. Let it linger on the finish, and you’ll get a whisper of licorice.

(Barrel Roll No. 3) Pugachev’s Cobra 2019 – 14.4% ABV – 500ml
The most recent addition to this impressive lineup — the 2019 vintage — already has stellar 4+ ratings, and it’s being called out for its strong dark chocolate, maple syrup, and raisin flavors.
Crack it open soon, and you’ll also get plenty of the oak and whiskey notes, up front. Or, let it cellar and wait for them to mellow into baking spice and molasses.
