A Note on This Beer
Did you know that wild blueberries are freakin’ everywhere in Maine? It’s probably why the state’s official dessert is the classic blueberry pie.
It’s also probably why the fellas at Portland’s Foundation Brewing are such berry aficionados. So much so that they loaded today’s Purple Berry Jam Tart Fruit Ale with real blackberries and wild Maine blueberries!
And after tasting the deep berry notes that the brewers managed to stuff into the can, I’m considering packing up my bags and moving to Maine.
At least there I can munch on sweet, yet mouth-puckering berry pies and cobblers to my heart’s content...and be closer to this Thrillist-named Best New Brewery in America, of course!
Take a whiff of this magenta-hued pour, and let the fragrant aromas of fresh berry compôte seduce the nose. Ripe blueberries burst onto the palate in a wave of potent jamminess while blackberries add a tantalizing tanginess to every sip. The addition of lactose gives this brew a thick mouthfeel that rounds out the tartness on the finish.
One mouthful of this ambrosial brew, and you’ll taste the difference fresh fruit makes in a Sour. Don’t settle for fake flavors when you can take a bite — er...sip of this liquid berry pie.
This beer is too new for ratings!
