A Note on This Beer
To inject even more dark fruitiness into a traditional Belgian Quadrupel Ale, the Belgian experts at Taxman Brewing devised a brilliant plan:
Step #1: Start with their cocoa-plummy, GABF medal-winning Qualified Quad base.
Step #2: Grab some Zinfandel and Pinot Noir barrels fresh from Sonoma wine country.
Step #3: Age the beer 6 months in those oak barrels.
Step #4: Luxuriate in the cherry jammy riches of Red Wine Barrel Qualified.
To douse this 10% ABV Quad with such juiciness, Taxman has a Californian wine connection that secures them fresh barrels within a week of being emptied of wine. This instant access is immediately tasted on the palate -- half a year in the barrels layers in cherry, cranberry, and plum skin essences atop the raisin and date-like Quad base. The fruit flavors are so jammy, you won’t even notice the ABV until you’ve reached the bottom of your glass.
Red Wine Barrel Qualified is tailor-made for the tulip glass and destined to be paired with filet mignon -- that’s why a good portion of this brew is being served in restaurants in Taxman’s native Indiana. With only 100 cases brewed, this kinda Qualified is certainly a limited-time experience. Better get your steaks and cigars ready.
