Building a brewery in the heart of America’s largest city is no easy feat. It takes years of planning, strategizing, and dedication — even before a global pandemic throws a King Kong-sized wrench in your gears!

When it’s been your dream since you were 16, like it was for Torch & Crown Brewing’s John Dantzler and Joe Correira, you channel all the drive, ambition, and grit your NYC hometown’s given you, and you make it happen!

Today we’re pleased to bring you two amazing beers from Torch & Crown — the first full production brewery to open in Manhattan in over a generation!

First up is Bracer, their classically clean, smooth-sipping Helles Lager. 

Traditional Lager malts add a light, crackery breadiness that persists through every quenching gulp. A bouquet of Hallertauer Mittelfrueh Noble Hops completes the package with a nuanced floral aroma, and light spritz of bright citrus flavor.

The body is light and buoyant, but the texture’s rounded and balanced, with a highly-sippable dry-softness that turns one can into an easy two or three.

Now that your palate is primed and ready, it’s time for Restless, the brewery’s first Dark Lager! The brewery admits they’ve agonized over every detail in this roasty brew, giving it the kind of attention “no sane person would give a second thought!” 

It opens with a deft blend of Munich, caramel, and chocolate malts to create that distinct, toasted pain au chocolat quality for which Dark Lagers are known. The aroma and hop flavor lies in tradition: the brewers employed Hallertauer Mittelfrueh Noble Hops for just a hint of spiced florality.

The crew at Torch and Crown poured their heart and soul into creating these beers. They’re incredibly excited to bring craft production and culture right into the middle of the city, and to craft lovers all across the country!
