A Note on This Beer

Oh my gourd. Pumpkin beers are here!

This year’s Pumpkin Beer Bundle brings you some of the best fall flavors in 8 seasonal sippers. From sumptuous Stouts to spiced Fruited Sours, these brews are sure to scratch that pumpkin spice itch!

Bring some along to your next hayride, apple orchard visit, or tailgate. Heck, we won’t tell if you sneak a few into your pillowcase when you take the kids Trick-or-Treating!

Here’s what you have to look forward to:

Prairie Artisan Ales - Pumpkin Kerfuffle - 8.2% ABV x 1 can

The crew at Prairie, who brewed one of the 12 most popular beers on Tavour last year, crafted this tart Autumnal treat with pumpkin pie spice and gooey toasted marshmallows. Each sip starts refreshingly tart and crisp before easing into the rich, cinnamon-y flavor of a slice of whip-cream topped pumpkin pie.

Only it’s better, because this pie was baked with a bold 8.2% ABV!

Energy City - Bistro Grande Pumpkin Cobbler - 6.5% ABV x 1 can

We can’t even count the number of “best pumpkin beer ever” and “perfect pumpkin brew” reviews on Bistro Grande: Pumpkin Cobbler’s UT page.

To craft it, the brewers at Energy City started with their Berliner Weisse base and added pumpkin, vanilla, and autumnal spices after fermentation. It’s everything you want in a cozy fall treat — cinnamon and nutmeg flavors make this full-bodied “pumpkin pie in a glass” taste just like the beloved seasonal dessert!

Aslin Brewing Co. - How Now Brown Cow: Pumpkin Spice - 6% ABV x 1 can

This festive Milk Stout really brings the spice, spice baby! Aslin Brewing Co. conditioned the brew on pumpkin pie spices and vanilla for notes of pumpkin, nutmeg, cinnamon, and ginger over the deep, rich, chocolatey Stout base.

Craft fans on Untappd are really falling for it: @Blake A. calls it “soooo amazing!!! Such a great mix of pumpkin and chocolate.”

Rahr & Sons Brewing - Rumpy Rum Barrel Aged Imperial Pumpkin Ale - 9% ABV x 2 cans

When the skilled brewers at Rahr and Sons crafted this brew, they wanted a Pumpkin Ale you could bring to the party. Heck, this beer IS the party!

Whether you’re heading to a Sunday afternoon tailgate or a holiday soirée with your in-laws, its mosh pit of top-shelf rum, cinnamon, and allspice — doused in a sinful 9% ABV — will keep the pumpkin party rockin’ all season long. A jam session of caramel and brown sugar from the Brown Ale base vibes alongside a slightly hoppy finish.

Hoppin’ Frog - Frog’s Hollow Double Pumpkin Ale - 8.4% ABV x 1 can

The only thing better than pumpkin spiced coffee is taking lush, 8.4% ABV quaffs of Frog’s Hollow Double Pumpkin Ale!

To craft their ode to the autumnal equinox, the award-winning crew at Hoppin’ Frog used an extra-special spice blend. Like master bakers, they infused the beer with cinnamon, ginger, cloves, nutmeg, allspice, and real pumpkin puree! It’s like savoring a creamy bite of homemade pumpkin pie, but with a lusciously boozy kick.

Destination Unknown Beer Co. - Mandatory Pumpkin - 6% ABV x 1 can

DUBCO brewed this seasonal Ale with real pumpkin, then kicked up the complexity by weaving in a host of baking spices: cinnamon, clove, and nutmeg!

Every sip is like wrapping yourself in a soft sweater and stepping outside to take in the crisp fall air. The brew is smooth and brimming with pumpkin-spice depth, finishing briskly with a note of bread-y pie crust.

Wyndridge Farm - Pumpkin Spice Cider - 6.0% ABV x 1 can

Using proprietary cider apples sourced from their South Central Pennsylvania farm, award-winning Wyndridge imbues each crisp taste with the semi-sweet sensations of juicy, slightly tart apple, surrounding the palate like a group of friends around the fire.

Additions of pumpkin and fall spices like clove and cinnamon add an earthy, yet lightly-bitter backbone to the refreshing effervescence of the Cider base. Dashes of maple syrup and dates elevate it to even further heights, creating swaths of rich complexity reminiscent of a lovely glass of mulled Cider while under a warm blanket.

Masthead Brewing - Haunted Hayride Pumpkin Ale - 7.3% ABV x 1 can

The inventive brewers at Masthead thought outside the gourd with this brew. They went to Great Pumpkin-sized proportions and added a massive amount of cinnamon sticks, freshly-cracked nutmeg, fresh ginger, and real pumpkin to their succulent, seasonal sipper!

The result is a creamy-bodied, liquified pumpkin pie-like sensation reminiscent of Mom’s special recipe. After a swig or two, you’ll be feeling as giddy as a kid diggin’ into the famous fall dessert!

No tricks here — just 8 delectable treats to get you ready for the changing seasons. Grab a sweater, light a fire, and get ready to fall for these pumpkin brews!

this was pretty good. boozy, but also had an interesting (weird) taste to it. tasted almost like soda or Coca-Cola. odd. couldn’t quite figure out if it was from the rum barrels or not. regardless, this was tasty.

Not sure why my experience was so different but I thought it was pretty good. Decent balance between the pumpkin and rum for me. Like a boozy pumpkin pie complete with the spices.

Definitely different. You can taste the rum barrels and pumpkin very well but that’s not a bad thing.

When I first smelled this beer, I was enticed with subtle pumpkin spice notes, but after tasting they were a bit too subtle. The rum flavor was very present, but with the high alcohol content, it tasted more like a pumpkin beer spiked with some rum than a pumpkin beer aged in rum barrels

Second best to my favorite pumpkin brew - Shipyard pumpkinhead. It was complex, spicy, but not overly malty or sweet, and the flavors didn't taste like extracts like so many other pumpkin brews.

just okay. maybe just me but rum and pumpkin doesn’t seem to mix into a good beer very often. It’s a bit boozy and not a ton of flavor outside rum and pumpkin.

Don’t know what happened here but somethings wrong with this brew. Starts out bland and forgettable but eventually evolves into a poor man’s rum nightmare. Gets 1/2 a star for its nose that’s worthy of being put into a Yankee Candle.

Yummy...sweet cinnamon up front, then a hint of vegetal pumpkin as the buttery rum kicks in, then a warming finish that gets more boozy as it fades.

Wow! One of the better pumpkin beers I’ve had. Rum barrel adds a nice sweetness following the pumpkin. It’s almost too sweet, though.

The booziness obliterates any other aspect of of the beer. All I tasted was alcohol. Smelled delicious though. Not sure what happened here.

Way above average pumpkin beer. Anyone who says this is too boozy is a lightweight and should stick with the Zima. Aromas of rum, wood, vanilla, pumpkin, a graham cracker-like breadiness, cinnamon and a touch of clove come out of the glass immediately after opening. Taste is light to moderately sweet, savory, lightly bitter and very faintly tart. Really nice barrel notes bring out the rum flavor without being overpowering and compliment the pumpkin pie flavors amazingly. Great stuff.

Didn't feel like I noticed a ton of pumpkin, maybe on second go I will. Definitely taste the boozyness of the rum barrel and the cinnamon/sweet "fall flavors." Not bad

Pumpkin pie delicious drowned in a barrel o’ rum. Despite the spices and barrel-aging, the pumpkin is still detectable – no mean feat. I’d actually like to taste this beer before barrel-aging.

packs a punch. your brain will tell you that you’re drinking captain Morgan, not beer. I purchased a few and have found that sometimes the pumpkin pie flavor comes through great and complements the rum and other times the rum just completely overpowers the palette and makes it hard to finish even a 12oz.
