When Anchorage Brewing Company released their brand-new, oak-aged Sent By Liars Imperial Stout online, their entire taproom supply sold out in 3 minutes.

That’s not surprising — Anchorage’s Stouts are the stuff of legend!

To make Sent By Liars, brewery founder Gabe Fletcher and his crew fermented and aged the brew in Missouri Oak. Then, they finished it on 1,000 lbs of hazelnuts that were roasted in Anchorage’s own wood-fired oven by Gabe’s sister, Heather.

Finally, they added luscious coconut, Madagascar vanilla and a dash of lactose to create a rich, full body that drinks almost creamy.

According to Gabe, the brew tastes like “chocolate covered biscotti with a sprinkle of roasted hazelnuts on top.” We think that’s pretty spot on, except we’d toss in a pinch of coconut, a drizzle of caramel, and chase it with a sip of freshly brewed espresso. 

Sent By Liars is a beer for sipping slowly by a crackling fire. Ideally while wearing some plush pajamas. Treat yourself.
