A Note on This Beer
When it comes to summertime desserts, it's tough to beat the famous combination found in the tart fruit punch and flakey, buttery crust of strawberry rhubarb pie. Now Sour fans are getting a dose of this tangy partnership in Woodland Empire Ale Craft’s newest flavor innovation.
Their Strawberry Rhubarb Berliner Weisse channels this hot weather treat into pucker ready, crisp refreshment with a lip-smacking infusion of real fruit and raw wheat that delivers the kind of tart relief we need under the sun.
Combined with the brewery’s own mix of Lacto and wild yeasts, this Weisse evokes an incredible range of tartness that goes beyond the classic dessert. By infusing the fruit in the beer for over a week, deeper tones of rhubarb woodiness and even strawberry husks come alive. Raw wheat then delivers a slightly doughy, rustic quality that not only gives the beer an easy drinking, soft mouthfeel, it evokes the fresh-baked quality of pie crust.
Artisan bakers and legions of grandmas ‘round the world claim fame with this mix of strawberries and rhubarb, but Woodland invigorates the duo with a decidedly sour twist. As soon as this beer was tapped at their brewery, it became one of the their biggest sellers and already claims an outstanding 3.93 Untappd rating!
