A Note on This Beer

I must have eaten a whole warehouse full of Fruit Roll-Ups as a kid. There were definitely a few years of my life when I begged my parents to put them in my lunch box every day.

It feels a little childish to buy them for myself now… but, I found a sophisticated loophole!

The GABF Gold medalists at Parish made a Sour Ale with real raspberries and Grenache wine grapes, and it tastes just like a berry-watermelon Fruit Roll-Up!

The only difference: their SIPS Grenache & Raspberry Berliner Weisse packs grown-up depth and complexity to satisfy an adult palate. Imagine grape and raspberry jam with a kiss of almond, cinnamon, and vanilla upfront, and a red wine-like finish.

One of the worst attempts at a Berliner I’ve ever had. Just a mess all around. Why did it taste smoky/burnt? Not interested in ever trying another bottle of the Sips series

Aromas of raspberry jam & a bit of grape soda. Juicy, sweet, slightly tart and a bit dry in the palate. Grape hits hard at the end for a sweet, juicy finish. This one’s really fun.

Bold raspberry and some red grape. Still shows enough tartness and a mild pucker to let you know it’s beer. Soft acid and pucker. NOT a fruit smoothie. And I really appreciate that!
