A Note on This Beer
Every March, breweries from all over California descend on the Los Angeles IPA Festival with their finest hoppy brews in tow. In 2020, one dry-hopped dynamo reigned supreme: Sorta Mostly Dead West Coast IPA from San Diego’s North Park Beer Co.
The judges got one sip of the grapefruit zest, ripe berry, and fresh pine resin flavors in this brew and crowned it King of the West Coast IPAs! It’s bright, fruity, and so dank it smells like it should only be legal in 14 states. Recreationally, anyway.
Fortunately, the massive piles of Citra, Strata, and Mosaic Cryo Hops in this brew are totally lawful everywhere in the country — it’s actually finding this beer that’s tricky. Outside of the Golden State, it’s nearly impossible!
Which is a bummer for everyone but the locals. This crew is listed as one of the best breweries in the craft-soaked city by Thrillist, Time Out, and Travel & Leisure! Shouldn’t we all get a little taste of that awesomeness?
Of course we should! But, that’s not going to happen, because we have just 40 cases of this brew to divide up between everyone outside of California. If you want a taste, you’ll have to get it before it’s gone.
Sorta Mostly Dead took the Gold Medal at the 2020 Los Angeles IPA Festival!
