A Note on This Beer

Mikkeller Brewing is like the Patrick Mahomes of the craft scene. This crew is a big-time Superbowl-worthy brewing-MVP!

They started 15 years ago in Copenhagen, snagging Danish Brewery of the Year in their first year running. Since then, they’ve traveled all over the globe to collaborate with other famous breweries, racking up world-class ratings on BeerAdvocate and an arsenal of awards along the way.

Which is why I went a little bonkers when presented with the chance to snag cans of Staff Wizard Berliner Weisse for football season — it’s like I’m kickin’ back with the Mikkeller brewers, toasting to another victory!

No matter who your team is, I’m sure you can agree that we football fans are choosy about our game-time brews. Fortunately, Mikkeller crafted this particular sideline sipper with real cranberries and mandarin-orange-like yuzu citrus, so it delivers the fruity refreshment needed to stay fiery all Sunday long.

It’s a delightfully drinkable combination of lip-puckering berry and zesty citrus that is sure to relieve any “bad play call rage.”

And, if your team can’t snag the ‘W’ this time around, at least we can all agree that this light-bodied brew is a total winner!

I liked it, but the sour part was a bit unbalanced and I couldn't finish the can. Not bad, just too much

Not bad, but mild almost to the point of being flavorless. A hint of cranberry, the slightest bit of tartness, and that's about it. Disappointing especially because Mikeller is usually very reliable.

Very mildly tart, with a hint of cranberry. Yuzu does not come through. A bit disappointing for a Mikkeller.

Citrusy and bitter. Like it's got the rind and pith. Definitely is not what I would call bold. Don't taste cranberry at all, but it might be what's making it bitter.
