About This Beer
The Edelweiss malt the Transient crew used to craft this refresher is a nearly 100-year-old 2-row variety. It was bred near Vienna and first released just after World War I. But by the second World War it had lost most of its acreage and was largely forgotten.
At least until Sugar Creek Malt Co. acquired some and nurtured it into one of their signature malts, reintroducing it to the world in 2021. Each swig of this Pils tastes like something Europeans might have been drinking a century ago.
Tasting Notes
Pair it with bold, Noble-nuanced hops and you have a dark brew brimming in tones of soft pumpernickel, cocoa, and golden honey. Herbal flourishes flow throughout with a hint of walnut. Grapefruit pith notes rise on the end for a refreshing, snappy finish.
