A Note on This Beer

The multi-GABF medalists at Pizza Port are one of those West Coast wonders whose bottles rarely leave Cali. A few lucky hopheads in Nevada might occasionally find them and that’s pretty much it.

Tavour has been eyeing them for years but it took a hook-up from our buddies at El Segundo for us to get our very first taste of their buzz-worthy hop skills in today’s Surfin’ Bird Double IPA collaboration.

Oooh lawd, it was a juicy taste! Surfin’ Bird is a hop cocktail of Citra, Loral, and Idaho 7. It’s swimming with lemon cream, peach nectar, and tropical fruit complimented by a light undercurrent of dank kush. The bottle says 8% ABV, but it’s masterfully disguised under layers upon layers of juice — you’ll feel like you’re walking through a Southern California farmers market.

Hopheads looking for a signature taste of SoCal’s famous brews will be hard-pressed to find a Double IPA that’s as quintessentially San Diego as Surfin’ Bird. And unless they make the trek to “America’s Finest City,” this is your only chance at this bottle of sunshine.

*Old schoolers will recognize the classic 90s t-shirt graphics on today’s beer, designed by T&C Surf creator Steve Nazar himself!
