About This Beer
The legendary California crew began Tequila Barrel Sunrise (2021) with a base of Blonde Barleywine. They aged most of it in extra añejo tequila barrels for 24 months and matured smaller quantities in orange and cherry bitters barrels. Then they blended it all together before conditioning on measured amounts of orange zest and hibiscus.
Tasting Notes
A layered aroma hinting at top-shelf spirits and oaky barrels wafts out of the dusky pour. Take a sip and botanical nuances give way to hints of grenadine formed by the masterful melange of hibiscus and bitters. Underneath, its malty sweetness features notes of golden raisin, pale caramel, and woody character, giving each taste a nod toward gingerbread.

Unique as hell. Boozy raisins, caramel, malty, orange bitters, and leaving you with sweet floral hibiscus.

Creamy head, earthy, floral, herbaceous aroma, pronounced Barleywine taste with hints of fruit bitters, citrus zest, hibiscus, and oak, and a warming tequila finish

Without the opulent critique I would have to call it a tequila old fashioned.
