A Note on This Beer

Thrillist says to make it in ‘Beer Capital, USA’ (a.k.a. North Carolina) you’ve got to have some mad brewing chops. Everything you make has to be “on lock!”

Asheville’s Burial Beer definitely fits the bill — they absolutely crushed it with this coffee-inspired craft brew!

Local taster @Samuel A. calls The Beginning Is After the End, “Probably the most coffee flavor I’ve ever had in a beer,” and @Travis Z. declares it the “Best Porter out there!”

To make it, Burial teamed up with their friends at Onyx Coffee Roasters — winners of 2 National titles at the U.S. Coffee Championships.

Together, they coaxed out massive coffee character in this Lager-malted Porter. Rich notes of dried stone fruit and roasted nuts mingle with a hint of char. Creamy caramel and vanilla flavor add a sweet balance to the boldness. The finish is silky-smooth, with an easy-drinking, medium body and 6.5% ABV.

Sipper @Caity P. even admits,“Omg, I could drink this every morning…” When you wake up tomorrow, what would you rather have in your cup? The same old spill of Folgers, or a masterful mug of coffee Porter straight from Beer Capital, USA?

Craft Beer & Brewing calls Burial a “fundamental planet” in Asheville’s craft-beer-soaked universe!

With Tavour, it's easy to beer it forward! Just head over to Tavour.com/gifts to send a gift box or gift card to the craft beer lover in your life. Cheers!

Best coffee porter I’ve had yet from one of my favorite breweries. Strong coffee flavor and aroma. Very smooth and easy to drink.

Wow. Just wow. This tasted exactly like drinking a cold brew coffee. I had to do a double take to make sure this was the beer I thought I picked out of the fridge. If you like real cold brew coffee from a keg, this is absolutely a treat.

Its like a carbonated coffee. Alcohol is almost undetectable. If you like black iced coffee this is your beer.

Solid coffee flavor, but there’s a bit more going on beneath it that keeps it interesting.

Fantastic, the flavors come in layers. Then they keep overlapping.

Aroma is huge coffee with cream. The coffee is bold and lingers throughout the sip. Medium body with a roasty texture. Honestly, it’s kind of a one trick pony but that one trick is done really well.

For me not being big on coffee, this was a pleasant surprise on taste. Definitely strong coffee taste but it is very easy to drink and well balanced

Lots of coffee in this brew. The dark malts come in later, as the beer warms. Nicely balanced, not too sweet, and very drinkable.

The only thing to really fault with this beer is the pretentious post-rock album name. Great coffee porter where the coffee plays a part in the profile and not the main event.

Decent porter. However the overwhelming coffee taste almost made it taste like left over cold brew. I wish the other flavors were as rich as the coffee.

Outstanding coffee flavor on top of a well made porter base. Light caramel touches in the middle, but the coffee lingers at the end delightfully.

To light in body and flavor. Reminded me of water down drip coffee. The coffee did not blend well with the porter.

My main complaint is it’s a lot light on the coffee. It’s thin as well, but this makes sense fir a crushable porter.

Cold brew coffee aroma with a hint of Porter, creamy head, rich coffee taste with roasted nuts and dark dried fruit notes, thin bodied Porter meets coffee shandy, very smooth, subtle sweetness, and an unfiltered black coffee finish.
