About This Beer
Brewing beer with shellfish might seem a little peculiar, but the first thing you need to know about Oyster Stouts is that they don’t actually taste like oysters!
Plus, the style isn’t some Johnny-come-lately flash in the pan — Modern Oyster Stouts date back to at least the 1920’s, and folks keep coming back for another taste of their complex minerality.
This version from Burley Oak is something truly special. Not only did they brew it with fresh oysters, they also conditioned it on piles of cacao nibs and aged it single use rum barrels!
Tasting Notes
The thick-bodied brew is richly decadent, with flavors of dark chocolate, salted caramel, and creamy vanilla. The velvet-soft finish lingers with just a faint hint of oceanic complexity, like a salty sea breeze.
