A Note on This Beer
Renaissance monks viewed brewing as an art, but Monkless founder Todd Clement has it down to a science. He’s got a PhD in Organic Chemistry!
In fact, if monks brewed like Clement, they’d probably be running around the bright tanks with beakers and goggles, crafting each batch with meticulous attention to detail — like today’s bold Belgian Abbey Ale.
With the spicy scent of cloves and the sweet taste of Belgian Candi Sugar, The FNG drapes the palate in creamy caramel and sticky toffee, balanced by ripe plums and a hint of pepper.
Believe it or not, The FNG began as a happy accident: one of Monkless’ new brewers milled the wrong grain into the mash for their classic Belgian Tripel. Luckily, Clement was able to rush in with his scientific expertise, saving the entire 10-bbl batch and turning it into something entirely new!
Due to its crazy popularity with locals, it’s now available in cans for the first time! But, not just any cans — each 4-pack sold at the brewery features a random selection of 10 different can designs, all displaying wicked military camouflage patterns to honor U.S. veterans. So, if you order a 6-pack of this limited edition brew on Tavour, you could get up to 6 different designs!
Right now, you won’t find this satisfying science experiment outside of Oregon. Ready to do a little taste testing of your own?
