A Note on This Beer
One of the most elite Imperial Reds in America isn’t from 3 Floyds, or Alesmith, or even, god help you, Lagunitas -- it’s from New Mexico’s Boxing Bear and it’s called The Red Glove. Here’s why it’s punching its way to the top:
- It won GABF Gold! It even earned a fist-bump from Charlie Papazian, the founder of the festival!
- It’s packed with an audacious amount of hop potency from 7 different hops and 2 rounds of dry hopping.
- It’s one of the most cloned beer recipes in the country, with a spot on American Homebrewers Association’s Top 50 Recipes!
With the sheer amount of hops it takes to make this red beast, we don’t have a clue why homebrewers would even take this on: it’s got Chinook, Magnum, Columbus, Simcoe, Cascade, Crystal, and Centennial Hops, all working in fruity bitter harmony with the robust big malty backbone. It draws sweet and roasty flavor from a blend of Crystal Malts. Notes of juicy oranges, flambeed pineapple, and honeydew melons from the hops break through the caramelized pecan-soaked body and culminate in a resounding bitter bite.
Available outside New Mexico for the first time, grab a taste of piney, citrus peel-zested, caramelly Red and we’re pretty sure you’ll wanna fist-bump each and every person who was responsible for its toffee and bitter tangerine pith panache.
