A Note on This Beer
You’re looking at dark beer royalty.
The #2 Oatmeal Stout in the world on BeerAdvocate. A Stout so revered, dark beer fans around the country plan entire trips around its June release. A beer that, every year, Fremont releases to an adoring crowd in their Seattle beer garden, only to see it sell out the very same day.
Well, dark beer aficionados, we have the best news: We got 20 cases of The Rusty Nail 2019 vintage. It won’t be around long, and with good reason.
Aged 15 months in 12-year-old bourbon barrels on brewer’s licorice and cassia cinnamon chips, this 13.9% ABV beast swells on the palate with layers of dark cocoa and spice atop a finely tuned bourbon profile.
Rich aromas of caramelized sugar, cinnamon, and vanilla rise from its obsidian pour, giving way to a hint of woody char. With the first sip, you’ll notice each element present itself in a thick, chewy mouthfeel: dark chocolate, leather, bourbon-soaked raisins, vanilla, and a touch of smoke.
With an oaky nose and a dark fruit sweetness at the end, you’ll be swept away in a tapestry of rich flavors that will have you all but forgetting its impressive ABV.
If you missed this bottle release in June of 2019, now is your chance! This dark brew has spent 2 years in Fremont’s cellar and is even smoother and richer than when it was first produced. And now, a lucky 240 Tavour members get to say they grabbed some.
Tavour strictly supports independent beer. Fremont Brewing is certified independent by the Brewers Association
