A Note on This Beer

Anchorage just released The Sacrifice (2026), but if you didn’t get a bottle during the preorder, don’t worry — we managed to snag a few extra cases to share with y’all!

Gabe Fletcher and his team crafted the new edition of this 4.45 Untappd and 4.49 Tavour-rated brew with a rich Imperial Stout base. Then they aged it in Hemingway Rye barrels for 28 months before the crew conditioned the brew on toasted and raw coconut.

Look forward to decadent notes of dark chocolate-dipped macaroons in every velvety quaff. Fudgy cocoa tinged by intricate whispers of dark cherry and caramel should swirl around silky coconut cream on the way to a toasty, nutty finish. Expect lingering whiskey spice to give the taste a warming finish that hints at the 18.11% ABV.

These sumptuous chocolate-and-tropical tones will make for a memorable dessert or nightcap when you share it with a good friend, bring this brew to the bottle share, or savor it slowly while reading a good book.

This vintage is too new for ratings, but the last one holds a 4.45 on Untappd and 4.49 on Tavour!

It loses its head faster than a sugar-addled toddler and the lumps of coagulated oil on top could put London’s sewer fatbergs to shame, but you can forgive it all because to flavor is incredible and despite the viscosity and ABV, it’s so drinkable.

Okay, so to let you know, if you don’t like Dogfish WWS or Dark Lord, you won’t like this. This is like those beers with extra viscosity and some coconut. Base is heavy savory umami, oak and nuttiness from the foeder, booze, plus fresh coconut w/floaties

This is a very good beer with a great coconut taste. Unfortunately for its review I started tavour by having Ten Years which I gave a 5. This one comes close but not the 5 for ten years.

I may be one of the few, but I associated the taste and smell of this beer to soy sauce. I had three friends with me when I cracked this one open and we all gagged at the smell and I was a little let down.

Insane! This is like having a nice, buttery, coconutty macaroon mashed down into a motor oil-thick stout base. Easily one of the best of the year for me.

375ml bottle from Tavour. Expensive, but worth it. Black pour, thick, tiny ring of brown head. Roasty aroma, chocolate, light coconut, booze. Sweet, syrupy taste, fudge, booze, trace if coconut. Velvety, full. Succulent. Awesome!

This had almost no carbonation, any head disappeared almost as quickly as it touched the glass. I liked the flavors but hard to appreciate when it’s flat. A lot of chunky particulate in this one. I was expecting more from my first Anchorage experience, maybe my second bottle will be better. First one, meh! Edit....second one same as the first. This stout and others I have had from Anchorage are trash!

Rich and sweet imperial stout with a syrupy molasses-esque mouthfeel and an abundance of coconut and mellow oak with slight cocoa/coffee-like bitterness with fleeting hints of vanilla and cinnamon; lots of floaties.
