A Note on This Beer
Fans of Michigan’s Austin Brothers Beer Co. don’t rely on a weather forecasting groundhog or ye olde Farmer’s Almanac to tell them when the bitter Midwest winter will end.
No siree! They simply mark their calendars for the release of the brewery’s jammy, tangy, berry-soaked There Gose Winter Sour Ale (2020).
Stuffed with a whopping 67 lbs of strawberries and raspberries in every barrel, one sip of this bright and bubbly brew will have you thinkin’ Spring really has sprung.
Don’t fret if this is the first you’re hearing about this family-run brewery. They opened their doors a little over 4 years ago and brew in such small batches that their beers never leave the Mitten State.
But they’ve made quite a splash on the Michigan craft scene, even earning a shoutout from the state’s premier tourism site, PureMichigan, as a “Must Try” brewery alongside big names like Founders, Brewery Vivant, and Bell’s!
And who cares if the “actual” first day of the season lands in mid-March or that most of the country is still blanketed in snow. ‘Cause with a breezy 5.5% ABV and touch of warming sea salt, you’ll be feelin’ like a bright-eyed spring chicken in no time!
The 2020 batch is too new for ratings! Last year’s vintage rated 4.05 on Untappd!
