A Note on This Beer
Today’s ruby red grapefruit-bomb is the first hydroponically-grown, fresh hop IPA we’ve ever seen!
Typically, brewers can only make fresh hop beers a few short weeks each fall, during harvest season. The hops must go from the bine to the boil in less than 48 hours to be considered true fresh hops.
But, hydroponic hops are grown in greenhouses without soil, using mineral nutrient solutions. This allows brewers to bypass traditional growing seasons and produce fresh hop beers any time of the year!
Hopheads rejoice! Thanks to Wild Leap, you don’t have to wait until fall for a dank taste of fresh hops — the hydro IPA is here!
With very few hydroponic farms in the United States, Wild Leap head brewer Chris Elliott jumped at the chance to work with off-season fresh hops.
Hydro farm Extreme Hops AL knew they found the “perfect partner” in Wild Leap Brewing too, saying, “They’re adventurous, curious-minded people like us, so the collaboration couldn’t have been more natural.”
The result of these two innovative beer minds joining forces is today’s 4.29 Untappd-rated Three Harvest Fresh Hop Double IPA.
You can taste the just-picked hop freshness packed into these cans. The 100% Cascade Fresh Hops yield a full glass of bright red grapefruit juice flavor in each pillowy mouthful. It’s so fresh you’ll get a spicy kick of black pepper with a flourish of floral notes that bring complexity to the blast of fruitiness.
Who has two thumbs and is drinking Fresh Hop IPAs during winter? You do!
