A Note on This Beer
Okay, hear me out: this winter, I’m opting to decorate with a beer nativity scene.
It’s festive, alright?! And today’s Barleywine fits right into place — it’s 2021’s batch of Three Ryes Men from Washington’s most decorated brewery!
Like gold, frankincense, and myrrh, any amount of this liquid velvet is precious. Reuben’s only brews it once a year, and fans flock for a taste of its malt-driven caramel and chocolate notes.
The team describes it as a liquid Rolo — though I’ve never had a candy with such luscious layers of warming complexity. To craft it, they fittingly brew with three types of rye: malted, flaked, and crystal. Then they age it in bourbon barrels for nuanced notes of oaky vanilla and an extra caramel kick.
If you have no gifts to bring to your next holiday gathering, a bottle of this bad boy is sure to impress any craft fan...if you can find the strength to part with it!
With only 15 cases to go around, you’d be wise to snag a few bottles while you still can. Follow your instincts (and the brightest star in the sky) right to the “Get It” button.
The last batch of Three Ryes Men we featured won a bronze at GABF!
