Today’s Toasted Coconut Mr. Sandman is the boozier, nuttier, even more exclusive cousin of River North’s fan-adored Sandman Stout.

No joke! It has all the roastiness and molasses-like caramelization of the Mr. Sandman we know and love, with added layers of oaky vanilla, rich cacao, and lavish coconut!

All those decadent flavors roll right over the incredible 12.1% ABV, softening into its super smooth drinkability.

We can imagine how the discerning palates at Paste Mag might react to today’s amped-up version. When they tried the OG Mr. Sandman during their blind Imperial Stout taste test, it out-performed 100 other beers. As they put it, “the execution was borderline perfect.”

this did not taste or feel like a coconut stout. seemed very off especially as I’ve had good stout from sandman.

Definitely a toasted beer, but not coconut-forward. The coconut is kinda hard to find. More on the nose than in taste. Still a decent-tasting stout.

It was a good Stout, though nothing really stood out. Smooth with little bite, but kind of boring. Did not really get much if any coconut. The coconut may have just kept it from being bitter.

The very bit of coconut may have helped this be a bit less bitter...though the bitterness was still there. Had a bit of a burnt taste as well. Not a bad stout, but not mindblowing either. Also...why is this listed as a 13.5%, but the bottle says 12.1%?

This beer was just ok for me. Try as I might, I could not find the toasted coconut, which left me rather disappointed.
