A Note on This Beer

Casita is a new North Carolina brewery quickly making a name for itself by collaborating with craft beer giants like Tired Hands. Today, they teamed up to create an innovative Pastry Stout.

Yes! Tired Hands — the crew that helped introduce many creative flavor combos and style hybrids that rocked the scene.

Prepare to be rocked yet again, as these two brewery stars bring you Trapper Pi3 Blueberry Lemon Crumb Cake Stout!

Yes! OMG, it tastes like dipping a blueberry-lemon crumb cake in mocha fudge.

They used tons of oats and secret specialty malts to give this baby a thick and silky mouthfeel. Then, they conditioned it on a generous helping of blueberry puree and lemons, as well as a pinch of cinnamon and whole Madagascar vanilla beans.

Somewhere buried in all of that decadence is an 11.3% ABV. Good luck trying to taste it. We sure couldn’t, but we definitely had a ball trying.

With Tavour, it's easy to beer it forward! Just head over to Tavour.com/gifts to send a gift box or gift card to the craft beer lover in your life. Cheers!

Tavour strictly supports independent beer. Tired Hands is certified independent by the Brewers Association

The blueberry is a bit overwhelmed in this beer. The lemon is quite present. The cinnamon is well blended, but still noticeable. The mocha/chocolate doesn't appear present.

My reviews are never in this format.. But I'm trying to be nice.. So.. Smell - blueberries & lemon g very nice & refreshing.. Can't taste the blueberries though. Color - awesome. Nice, rich, & thick.. Looks promising. Boozy - yup, it's not hidden that well. Taste - what the heck!? It's literally like I just ate a rich, gooey fudge brownie and then took a swig of lysol to wash it down.. I brought it up a few degrees, thinking that might help - nope.. Then even did some mixology to try to dr it up and get rid of that lemon - nope. Stouts have my heart. I never turn them down. Ever. This is the first drain pour stout I've ever done.

I feel like such an oddball giving this a high rating. I love the thick, blueberry feel to it. And the lemon gives it the last good kick.

I didn’t get any Blueberry, Lemon, or Cake flavor. Bland and sour. I didn’t even finish it. I’ll have another one before I make any more comments......

Hmmm. A little weird, it’s exactly as advertised though. Glad I gave it a try but not my preference for a stout

Disclaimer I’m not a stout (booze soup) person. I couldn’t combine sweet and stout in my mouth definitely gagged and couldn’t finish it.

An noticably strong, overtly sweet, dessert stout with just a hint of tanginess added. There's far too much going on to recommend pairing it with food, but its unique aroma and flavor grew on me more and more as I drank it. A nice way to slowly unwind at the end a long of a long week.

16oz can from Tavour. Near black pour, tiny ring of head. Aroma is savory and blueberries, cinnamon, waffles. Taste brings sweetness, chocolate, light roast. Very breakfasty. Sweet, savory, dry bitterness comes in late.

Went in with an open mind, but ultimately have to agree with other reviews. Lemon does not belong in this beer. Blueberry and cinnamon would have been lovely. The lemon gives it a product-y aftertaste.

Smelled delicious, was excited, but taste was barely that of an average imperial stout. No lemon. No cinnamon. No blueberry. Tried letting it warm up and the cinnamon came through, but that's about it. Poured half down the drain

Aroma is blueberry, bread, and spice. Sweeter blueberry upfront and transitions into lemon and cinnamon in the finish. Bodies appropriate for the style. The lemon becomes rind like in the finish as it warms. Not sure what I was expecting here.
