A Note on This Beer
Pyment style Mead is basically a hybrid of Mead and wine fermented from both grapes and honey. And when it comes to this unique style, Garagiste Meadery is the undisputed king — they make 4 of the 5 top rated Pyments on Untappd!
Once Mead aficionados get a taste of today’s Tripartite, they might just end up with 5 out of 5. With this brand new offering, this Florida crew is pushing Pyment to dizzying new heights.
First, there’s the grapes — Garagist decided on a blend of 40% Cabernet Sauvignon from California, 40% Malbec from Chile, and 20% Australian Shiraz. The combination creates cascading flavors of blackberry, plum, and black cherry that melt across the palate like a spoonful of mixed preserves.
Then, they aged the Mead in a blend of American, French, and Slovakian oak barrels, imparting a note of oak and mellowing the flavors into softly rounded lushness. It’s incredibly complex, and also approachable, just like a world class red wine.
If you’re lucky enough to see this before our little stash disappears, you might want to pick up more than one bottle — the folks at Garagiste say this Mead will age beautifully for up to a decade.
How often do you get the chance to add a Pyment to your cellar?
