A Note on This Beer
Fans of heavy metal legends Iron Maiden run to the hills (a.k.a. their computers) to flood us with requests for one of the band’s supremely famous and rare Trooper Ales -- and we finally got one! Put your metal sign high up in the air for the robust and fruity Belgian-inspired 3rd Edition: Trooper Hallowed.
Designed and brewed by Bruce Dickinson -- the Maiden frontman himself -- in collaboration with Robinsons --one of England’s famous independent brewers -- Trooper Hallowed blasts aromas of candied apricots with hints of caramel and spicy nougat. Yet at just 6% ABV, this smooth delight is easily bingeable through an whole night of headbanging.
Inspired by the thought-provoking flavors of Belgian Ales, Robinsons brings in the fruity power of Belgian yeast and the distinctly nutty malts and noble hops of the UK. The resulting brew thrashes your palate with bananas, plums, and caramel notes yet is so silky on the tongue, a six-pack is merely the intro track to one night of raging riffs of flavor.
As is the case for any of these hallowed Maiden brews, you’ll have to dial the number of the beast to find it. Only available for just 4 months this year, this limited edition Belgian/English hybrid will almost be as rare a find as an original pressing of of Powerslave. But one look at the bottle, adorned with Ed in a monk’s robe swinging a rope, and you’ll know -- it’s worth the wait.
