About This Beer

For inspiration, the brewers turned to the Kool-Aid pickle or ‘Koolickle.’ To make this wacky treat, folks mix Kool-Aid with their pickle brine, then let the pickles sit in it until they turn crazy colors.

To make a beer version, the brewers at Martin House did much the same thing. They took their Best Maid Pickle beer — which actually tastes like a sip from the jar because it’s crafted with real dill pickle juice — and added a pop of fruit punch flavor!

Tasting Notes

When you take a sip, it starts off like tangy pickle juice, then jumps into fruit punch with notes of cherry and lemon-lime, before careening back into full-on pickle flavor on the finish. It is bizarre, totally unexpected, and completely delicious.

This brew was inspired by the famous kids snack the "koolickle" [cool aid with dill pickles added to add fun flavor combos and crazy colors to the chilled snack]. This is definitely the adult version of that! It opens with strong fruit punch aromatics and follows quickly with the pucker power of the original sour pickle beer of Martin house fame! Crisp, tart... garlicky... aaaaand lo and behold, light fruited cool aid notes come back around on the finish! This one is definitely different. Not better than the original sour pickle beer, but one to be tried and enjoy! 😃🍻👍 ⭐⭐⭐⭐💫

It’s weird. Nothing tropical punch about it really but the color ! Kinda like a spicy pickle! But definitely pickle flavor. If you like pickles try it.

I find this strangle addicting. It’s sour, salty, subtly fruity, and you have to sit with it for a while in order to appreciate it. Maybe I would enjoy it better in a mixed drink, rather than by itself.
