A Note on This Beer
Dark beer fanatics rejoice, It's National Stout Day. Time to have a Stout and shout it out!
What better way to celebrate than with one of the biggest, baddest stouts ever featured on Tavour? ...
There’s a lot of controversy around Avery Brewing’s 17.8% ABV cult favorite Barrel Aged Tweak Imperial Stout. But there’s nothing controversial about the flavor: it’s rich, oaky, and full of coffee-drenched cocoa.
First dubbed Meph Addict, this version bears a more P.C. name, but it delivers even more crazy intensity than the original.
Aged for four months in bourbon barrels, Tweak’s pure density makes it an ideal sip and savor beer. Fans wax poetic over its merciless chocolate character punctuated by bitter ash, toasted cherries and waves of dominant booze. The full mouth-feel brings to mind a Kahlúa waterfall pouring into a pool of roasted vanilla.
Tweak holds a special place in Avery’s hallowed line-up of limited releases. It’s the kind of beer you leave unopened on your desk for as long as possible, to draw out the anticipation. And when the bottle’s empty, you keep it as a souvenir.
