A Note on This Beer
I admit, I was pretty nervous when Hop Culture predicted early this year that Pilsners would be one of the biggest trends of 2020.
A good Pilsner is tough to make! Weeks of cold conditioning are required for flavors to really shine through. Plus, the style’s crisp, ethereal body means a brewer can’t conceal even the slightest flaws.
Now that the flavor-pioneers at Imagine Nation have stepped up to the Pilsner plate, I’m calming down. One sip of their deliciously sippable Upside Down Pilsner, and it’s practically impossible not to dive right back in for another!
This summer crusher brims with a bright floral bouquet on the nose, paving the way for crisp bread crust and lemongrass notes on the tongue from German Pilsen malt. Doses of El Dorado and Experimental 342 Hops make for surprising twists of orange and lemon citrus, and a snappy hop finish.
It makes us wish Imagine Nation would brew Upside Down all the time, to extend the Pilsner trend beyond just this year. But then, they’d probably have to move to a larger space and spend 24 hours a day brewing. Because, with shoutouts from everyone from the Great Falls Tribune to CraftBeer.com, plenty of people are already pining for sips!
