A Note on This Beer
If patience is a virtue, then the barrel-aging experts at Alesong are one incredibly virtuous bunch. The few Tavour members who have tasted this vintage so far rate it a 4.25!!
The process behind their Valley Preserves began nearly a year ago, when the brewers infused their Golden Sour Ale with two varieties of Oregon-grown cherries. At the same time, they added local blueberries and boysenberries to French and American oak barrel-aged Sours and Saisons.
Once the separate batches had achieved the right complexity, the brewers blended them all together into one ultimate blend of juicy berry bliss!
Deeply jammy with a subtle dark fruit complexity, every sip of Valley Preserves is a taste of Oregon’s lush Willamette Valley. Sweet boysenberries and robust blueberries dominate the flavor, with the cherries contributing a background of light floral notes and subtle stone fruit juiciness. A refreshing, lip-puckering tartness reins in the finish, alongside pleasant hints of woody funk.
Sipping this berry-loaded treat under the summer sun is a recipe for bliss. But, if you have the patience for it, saving a rare find like Valley Preserves for a special occasion will only make it that much more awesome.
