A Note on This Beer
Once a year, the brewers at Revolution unearth their barrels of opulently aged Imperial Oatmeal Stouts. Mobs of Chicago craft fans swarm to get their hands on any mouthwatering variants they can!
It’s no wonder — these BA brew maestros have a mountain of awards from GABF, the World Beer Cup, the Festival of Barrel Aged Beers, and more!
Lucky for us, I was able to sneak some 2021 Vanilla Deth out of the windy city, past those thirsty locals straight ninja style. It was extra challenging since this fan favorite hasn’t been brewed since 2018!
To craft it, the celebrated crew started with an Imperial Stout brewed with flaked and malted oats for a smooth, velvety body. Then they aged the brew in bourbon barrels for a whole year with hand-split whole vanilla beans for rich accents of spiced oak.
Sophisticated cocoa aromas permeate the air with each pitch black pour. Take a sip, and tumble into decadent depths of crème brûlée, dark chocolate, and whiskey caramel. And it all swims in a titanic-sized 14% ABV!
While this vintage is too new for ratings, the last one boasted an enormous 4.37 on Untappd. Early tasters say this year’s is just as glorious, calling it “simply Stout-standing” and the “best Stout in all the land!”
Luckier still, you won’t have to brave the frosty winds of Chicago to claim some. We’re making things *ahem* breezy by bringing them to the comfort of your home!
