A Note on This Beer
New Mexico’s Boxing Bear named their Vantablack after one of the blackest substances known to man — a kind of black so dark that it absorbs 99.96% of visible light!
A long look at the roasty depths of this Russian Imperial Stout, and it feels like I’m staring into the empty void of space.
It really doesn’t get much darker than today’s 10% ABV pour. As one UT user puts it, Vantablack is “a boozy, dark, and evil treat!”
As soon as I pop the top and those aromas of bittersweet chocolate and strong, dark roast coffee pour out, all I can think about is knocking back a glass to fill the void in my tummy!
That first sip is just a toe-dip into the sea of darkness that is Vantablack, prepping the palate with singed toffee and pure cacao. Then comes the thick waves of French roast espresso and rich, bakers chocolate with a touch of anise. A subtle hint of black licorice flows on the finish, with a tinge of bitterness.
And, I’m not the only one who desires the darkness of this 4.08 UT-rated Russian Imperial Stout. Dark Beer fans all across the Great Southwest are in a total tizzy:
- “God, I love this beer. 5 Stars Perfect!” @William L.
- “This Stout just blew my mind! Hands down the best Stout I've ever had.” @John C.
- “I'm reminded of Founder's Imperial Stout, which is to say this beer is great.” @ONovoMexicano
For those craft fans who aren’t afraid of the dark, now’s your day. You’ll never see Vantablack anywhere outside of New Mexico, so you’d better snag yourself a stash while you still can.
You owe it to your dark side to experience the secrets this black-as-night sipper holds.
